FAQs
What is the difference between a clinical psychologist & a general psychologist?
A general psychologist offers interventions pertaining to Mental Health concerns including psychological, emotional & behavioural aspects, whereas a clinical psychologist takes it a step further by conducting certified assessments & then working towards the appropriate intervention for the client’s specific concerns.
Do counsellors just listen to problems, and not provide actual solutions?
Just like in any other scenario, you and only you are the one who takes the final decision on the path you want to choose. Helping you identify that path, building it, and guiding you on it is what a counsellor intends to achieve.
My first session did not provide concrete solutions to my problem. Is there any point of coming back?
Therapy is a gradual process. It is very unlikely to listen, consult, make progress, and deal with the solution from it’s core in a single 45 minute to 1 hour session. On an average, it takes about 4-5 sessions to go through with the above mentioned process. Just like any other form of healing, it takes time to see results.
I’m worried someone will know I’m seeing a mental health specialist
